Personality
One's first impression of Eiko is that she's very lippy and bossy. This is true, and also understandable. She lives only with the moogles, and they take orders from her, so though she's very lonely, she's still used to being the one in charge. She has a very forward attitude, which can be offputting.
Eiko is definitely mature beyond her years. This is not to an extreme--she can still whine and boss people around like any six-year-old, but her scope of understanding is far beyond this due to her difficult life so far. She understands death in a way most children do not, and though she has help from her moogles, she is still "in charge" and is not being taken care of so much as running the show in Madain Sari. She also takes some of her duties very seriously, such as burning incense at the Eidolon wall and praying there daily.
Eiko's forward nature can serve a good purpose--she's not afraid of saying what needs to be said, and in fact many other characters, all older than her (she is the youngest playable character in the game), do reflect on some of the things she says. She's also a bit precocious and cunning, plotting to get between Zidane and Dagger when she sees things aren't moving along very quickly between them. She obviously feels people ought to be open with their feelings, as this is her main tactic towards Zidane--she's flirtatious and open, while Dagger doesn't do much of that.
Eiko wants desperately to be treated like a lady and not like a child, but more than that she doesn't want to be alone. Her lonliness bothers her constantly. Luckily, by the end of the game, she's been adopted but still kept her energetic side.
